An Estate is the degree, quantity, nature, and extent of ownership a person (or entity) has in real estate.  To be an estate, ownership is (or may become) possessory with ownership measured in terms of its duration


An estate can be longer than, shorter than, or equal to one's lifetime.
An estate is possessory.  The right to use real estate is not an estate.
