Question:  When must I take USPAP?

Answer:  The 7-hour USPAP Update Course must be taken every-other renewal period.  Here's how it works.

Your renewal period is the first day after your birth month until the last day of your birth month.  Let's say you were born in October.  Your 2008 renewal period is from November 1, 2007 until October 31, 2008.  You must have 14 hours of continuing education between those dates.  Your 2009 renewal period is November 1, 2008 until October 31, 2009.  You must have continuing 14 hours of continuing education between those dates.

Since USPAP is due every-other renewal period, it is due by the last day of your birth month.  But which year?  If you take USPAP in your birth month, it is due in your birth month two years later.  If you take USPAP in any month but your birth month, it is due two years from your NEXT birth month.

If you were born in October and take USPAP in October 2008, you are due again by October 2010.

If you were born in October and take USPAP in August 2008, you are due again by October 2010.
