A Township is 6 miles by six miles and is divided into 36 sections.  

 

•Each section is 1 mile by 1 mile (5,280 feet x 5,280 feet.
•A section contains 640 acres.
•Sections are numbered from the top to bottom starting at the top right of the township and progressing as if you were mowing a lawn.
